BSAC Medical Declaration changes in 2025

Hi Jonathan,

As part of our progress on the new BSAC AMS, we have identified an area of improvement regarding the members' medical declarations. We realise this is a crucial piece of information required by clubs and have struggled to support this in the past with the current systems.

The new AMS will be able to store medical information accurately and, more importantly, in a much simpler way.

These are the key points we are looking to deliver:

  • The club will have more visibility when it comes to monitoring their members' medical status and expiry dates.

Medical Certificates

This is for all Club members and refers directly to your own respective responsibilities as a diver and member of BSAC that you are required to complete a Diver self-declaration medical fitness form, upon joining, and then annually when renewing. 

The Medical Declaration System works as follows:

  • From 2020 (updated 2021) a newly designed Recreational Diver Medical Declaration Form has to be completed annually on renewal of membership. The Form is a legal document and the signed declaration confirms that the answers are truthful.

  • Please note the new form requires the diver to consider whether they have had COVID-19.

  • Please note near the top of Page 1 of the 2021 form it makes it clear that should a diver develop a new health problem that results in a new “Yes” response to the questions on the form, they must contact a UKDMC Medical Referee for advice and not simply wait until…
